• Obverse : Depicts the coat of arms of Barbados along with the denomination and fineness. The golden crest bears two Pride of Barbados flowers (the national flower) and the spectacled fig tree (Ficus citrifolia). On either side of the crest are the supporters: on the right a dolphin symbolising the fishing industry and on the left a pelican, after Pelican Island, a small rock later incorporated into the deep water port. Above the crest is a helmet with a cape. On a wreath, a Bajan hand holds two crossed pieces of sugar cane symbolising the sugar industry. The crest bears the motto "Pride and Industry".
• Reverse : Features an image of an octopus with its tentacles partially encircling the edge of the design. Surrounding the octopus are plant illustrations. The name of the coin, fineness and issue date are also featured on the reverse.
