The hourglass has always been a symbol of transience. Before mechanical clocks existed, hourglasses or water clocks were the only way to measure time in one dimension. Hourglasses were available in domestic and luxury versions. In keeping with this ancient craftsmanship, the Perth Mint has now issued the first hourglass as a coin! A small hourglass was set in the middle, surrounded by a ring. Silver in antique finish. The classic ornaments refer to astronomy with the day and night cycle of the moon and the sun.

The coin is delivered with a matching frame.
