The fragrance "Darley" is a tribute to a legendary horse, the stallion Darley Arabian, who is considered one of the founders of the English thoroughbred horse breed. That Darley Arabian was born in Syria around 1700, bought there four years later by Thomas Darley and brought to England, where he was used for breeding with great success from then on.
Contrary to the name (and probably also the belief of his buyer), Darley Arabian was probably not a purebred Arabian, but rather had one of those Turkmen horses as an ancestor, the Akhal-Teke, which were bred for racing purposes in Syria and Iran.
The racetrack was in this horse's blood - so it is not surprising that the resulting breed of English thoroughbred is known for its amazing abilities in this area and its outstanding speed: English thoroughbreds are considered to be the fastest horses in the world and it is not uncommon for particularly talented specimens of their breed to achieve top prices of several million dollars at auctions.
Judging by the result, the recipe for "Darley", the fragrance, is worth a lot: "Darley" is a cool and fresh maritime fragrance that convinces with herbal mint freshness in the head and heart, as well as with a surprisingly woody-warm and deeply spicy base and thus definitely won the race with our men - a real winner!
