To mark the currency change from the D-Mark to the Euro and to commemorate the Deutsche Mark, the Deutsche Bundesbank issued the 1 DM gold coin in 2001. 1,000,000 pieces of this commemorative coin were minted with a fineness of 999.9/1000 ( Fine gold) evenly distributed in all five mints of the Federal Republic of Germany (A, D, F, G and J). The design of the Goldmark corresponds to the original coin, except for the changed inscription "Deutsche Bundesbank" on the motif side, which frames the federal eagle.
