We refer to the process of aging as patina. We know the term from many things in our lives. Furniture that has changed color due to age, a watch that has acquired a few scratches from being worn, a building that has faded a little, etc. We speak favorably of patina in all of these things. Patina has positive connotations. In other words, we assign it a higher value than the object had when it was new.
When it comes to shoes, the subject of patina is omnipresent. It has been with us for generations, especially in the men's shoe sector. In shoes, patina is traditionally seen as good care and appreciation. The color changes, new tones and new color gradients emerge. In the past, this was also an indication that the shoe had been owned for many years and carefully cared for. Today, this patina is sometimes created on new products. Who hasn't seen new jeans on the shelf, partially washed out and with tears? In the past, this was a sign that the jeans had been worn for many years. Today, they are bought with this "used look". This only happens because we attribute added value to this so-called patina.
We have patina or maturity in people, just like in perfumes. These also mature and often produce a new, better scent impression.
As a tribute to the many things that gain value through patina and because patina is an omnipresent theme in men's shoes, we have given the new Roberto Ugolini fragrance this esteemed name.
PATINA – the scent
Patina, the new fragrance from Roberto Ugolini, is part of the Extrait collection. The special recipes are composed with a very high fragrance oil concentration. In the case of Patina, this is a fragrance oil content of 30%.
The fragrance Patina is a classic amber fragrance with a special twist.
Amber fragrances, not to be confused with amber or ambergris as an ingredient, are accords that create an ambery, warm, woody impression. Amber fragrances are very popular and are therefore in the top categories of fragrance types.
Patina is my interpretation of an amber fragrance. Classic amber accords meet a fruity twist. In this case, mango. The fruity accords of mango, which itself is a very sweet and warm note, go perfectly with the classic amber note.
The fragrance starts with a clear, warm amber note and a stimulating fruitiness. It is initially very fruity but as it progresses it develops more and more in the classic amber direction.
The mango together with the honey creates a sweet scent which is supported by the floral note of ylang-ylang.
In the heart, as usual with me, the iris together with gentle Gurjum balsam and strong guaiac wood.
The base is characterized by sweet notes of vanilla and a potent amount of sandalwood.
